Health benefits a big perk for part-time elected officials (San Jose Mercury News)

A Bay Area News Group public-records survey shows hundreds of part-time
elected officials who attend a meeting or two a month governing small cities,
school boards and utility districts receive health benefits courtesy of the
taxpayer, often worth more than their actual pay.
