Appeals court reverses Philly judge’s odd reversal

In 2009, then-Common Pleas Court Judge Joyce W. Eubanks did a most unusual thing.
After convicting a man of a jewelry robbery in a nonjury trial, she suddenly changed her mind. Without any request from the defense, she vacated the conviction and acquitted the man.
